Backstory
Something very unexpected happened when my husband posted video footage a little while ago of Mike Lang and me recording our first take of “Losing You.”
To our surprise, the video resonated with people in a way we could never have anticipated. In fact, as of the official release date of this single, the video of our first take has been watched by over 173,000 people.
How did this happen? After a day of recording with some of the world’s greatest studio musicians at the legendary United Recording in Hollywood, we turned down the lights and recorded “Losing You” with just me and L.A. piano legend Mike Lang. NO headphones, NO isolation. NO rehearsal. It was PURE magic. This was the first take. We did one more take, and then recorded the third, which is the one we used on my new album IF IT AIN’T LOVE. The stunning version on the record is beautifully orchestrated by Nan Schwartz, but this intimate version offers something different, and I hope it resonates with you in a meaningful way.
